Rue Lepic
AUTUMN WINTER
letter from the creative director
Bonjour!
Can-can can you wait for this newest line? Because I couldn’t. ‘Rue Lepic’ is a dreamy collection inspired by the street entre les deux moulins, home to the infamous Moulin Rouge.
There is an undeniable atmosphere of romance on this charming hill that has influenced the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as our most recent range.
Jewel tones like Grape and Celadon pop against a moody backdrop of black and velvet with free-flowing designs that create an elongating effect. Sophisticated and unconventional trims are here to add a little drama and some much-needed colour to those grey Winter days. And of course—des fleurs pour toujours!
Bisous,
Rêve bohème
Styling the floral dress for winter—
One of the best parts about changing seasons is how it refreshes our wardrobe options. Boots and a leather jacket over a floral dress seem to effortlessly elevate daytime style. Parfait! See the bohemian romance of ‘Rue Lepic’ in this flowing floral dress with a balloon sleeve detail and stretch jersey slip for warmth and comfort.
A night to remember
This show-stopping suit will make a lasting impression.
The theme of this collection is imbuing a feeling of the extraordinary in everyday wearable pieces. The star of the show is our Velvet Blazer and Velvet Straight Leg Pant. The long-line silhouette of the blazer and wide straight leg fit of the pants create an elongating, high-fashion feel. Styled together or mixed and matched with other pieces, they will transform any look. We love the pop of colour and drama that our Silk Cotton Shirt adds.
Moody blooms
A soft blouse with edgy femininity.
The bold, feminine atmosphere of Rue Lepic inspired this romantic piece. The subtle frill detailing and bright blossoms create an interesting contrast against the black backdrop, giving the blouse an evening impression. Style it with the Vegan Leather Midi Skirt for a tailored look, or with this collection’s Velvet Straight Leg pant for a bohemian feel.
Diamantés are forever
Add a little glitz and glamour to your everyday look.
Crafted in 100% merino wool, this jumper was inspired by the handcrafted, bejewelled costumes at the Moulin Rouge. We wanted to bring that stunning glamour to your wardrobe in a way that has everyday wearability. The diamanté detailing and balloon sleeve adds subtle elegance to this warming and versatile jumper. Dress it up or down with your favourite Bengajean® or a midi skirt.
Une nuit au Moulin Rouge—
Before you step in, under the iconic neon lights that spell out, Moulin Rouge, there is another set of neon lights. It spells Féerie, meaning fairyland, because it is a world of magic that you are about to enter. In 1889 the legendary cabaret opened its doors to bring joyful disorder into a world in the midst of massive change. Today, they are still celebrating creativity and inviting you into the bosom of Parisian party life.
Here’s what to expect and how to dress for it:
1.
Crafting la magie du moulin rouge:
The Moulin Rouge continues to be a symbol of Paris’ infamous party spirit; so of course its secrets are steeped in the magic of French craftsmanship. As designers, we found their process phenomenally inspiring.
Les costumes: As lovers of fashion, part of the wonder of the cabaret arts is that the costumes are still almost always made by hand. The Moulin Rouge is no exception. Ten couturiers collaborate with neighbourhood boot-makers, embroiderers, and feather makers to create spectacular costumes for every new show.
Le ballet: Not only have all the dancers trained in classical, jazz, and modern dance, but only after three weeks of rigorous rehearsals does their discipline and diligence come to life when they take the stage.

Nourriture et boisson:
2.
Le Toit, French for “the roof”, is a hidden garden of fruit trees perched above the Moulin Rouge. It’s the perfect place to have cocktails et apéritifs before the show while enjoying a prime view.
If you opt for dinner with the show, you will step into the world of Chef Arnaud Dermerville. His time training in Michelin-starred restaurants makes his dishes a delightful balance of ingenuity and traditional French cuisine. Although he admits his kitchen is not zero waste, since taking up his post, he has changed to a seasonal menu in order to use local products and reduce stock, thereby reducing waste.

3.
Dress like it’s the golden age of cabaret
This is not an occasion for comfort. The dress code at the Moulin Rouge is, ‘be yourself, but a little out of the ordinary.’ That means an evening dress and your smartest high heels. Don’t just watch the show, be a part of it.
Notre recommandation: Style this collection's Velvet Straight Leg Pant and Velvet Blazer your way with a great pair of heels and your favourite bold lip colour.

If you’re not in Paris but still want to enjoy the show, we highly recommend Moulin Rouge! The Musical—the tony award-winning show inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s iconic movie. Time Out says, “The costumes are glittering masterpieces…the dance numbers are dynamic and technically flawless, and…every performer is worth their weight in diamonds.”

It’s always a smart choice to have a few go-to tees in your wardrobe. We crafted this collection’s tee in a rich ‘Grape’ in 100% merino wool for a warming effect.
Luxury in simplicity

Lustre and comfort are the coeur of this top.
From the brilliant costumes and backdrops of the Moulin Rouge to the vibrant awnings and shop fronts along Rue Lepic, we really wanted to explore richer colours in this collection. We fell in love with this ‘Grape’ and how it heightens the lustre of the velvet. The gathered frill neck and relaxed fit make this top a flattering special occasion piece with a chic, artistic feel.
