Our new collection moves us toward the months of spring, with soft, pretty motifs and a twilight colour palette inspired by the Parc Monceau.

The vintage batik print is from the French archives, inspired by the enchantment of Parc Monceau and by early 19th-century baroque décor. In spicy, scarlet tones contrasted by moonlight blues and creams, this collection is warm and fun.

Bisous,

Le Parc
Monceau

Grab a cup of tea as we take you on un petit tour through the Parc Monceau.

The Parc Monceau is a public park situated in the heart of Paris in the 8th arrondissement. A once strange and curious place, the park has a history dating back to the 18th century. The Duke of Chartres began work on the gardens in 1769 and later asked the French painter Carmontelle to design a fantastical garden full of illusions and medieval charm, designed to wow all who passed through its gates.

What resulted was a very eclectic and somewhat tacky replication of the world’s greatest monuments: a small Egyptian pyramid, a Roman colonnade, a Dutch windmill, a temple of Mars and a water lily pond, amongst other grand elements. The parc was opened with equal grandiosity, yet like all worldly sites, over time the park began to change and evolve into the place it is today. Now one of the most elegant gardens in Paris, full of spectacular trees, ponds, birds and little tokens of French history, you can still find some of the ruins of the park’s now-mysterious beginnings.

After a long day of garden fun, we recommend some fabulous Frenchy garden films! Jean de Florette is a renowned French period drama set in rural provence, starring French icons Gérard Depardieu, Yves Montand, and Daniel Auteuil. Dialogue Avec Mon Jardinier (Conversations With My Gardener) is a comedy-drama about friendship found while gardening. And for a touch of jardin romance, we love A Little Chaos, which technically is not a French film but it is set in France — in the the court of King Louis XIV.
