Letter from The Creative Director

Salut!

This week we introduced our latest collection, inspired by the eclectic and iconic Grand Palais. As a vibrant hub in the heart of Paris, we felt this location served as the perfect inspiration for a mid-year mood-boosting range.

The cool winter blues of our new denim and chambray strike a wonderful balance with the liveliness of our hero Grand Floral print. Pops of red and forest green round out this collection, resulting in a rich and bold palette that comes together beautifully. This collection, I think, captures a lightness and brightness of mood, even in the depth of winter. I hope you love it as much as we loved creating it for you,

Avec amour,

Paris’s Hidden Gems

Inspired by the eclectic brilliance of the Grand Palais, which is currently closed for renovation, this week we share a few of the Blue Illusion teams’ favourite secret spots in Paris.

Shakespeare and Co

George Whitman, expat literary patron, bequeathed his Left-bank bookstore to his daughter Sylvia in 2011 following his death. Apart from some subtle renovations, it remains the rich and rambling bohemian hub that has nurtured, nourished, and often housed writers and readers since the beat era. The books here are to be browsed and bought, including the thoughtfully curated section on Paris (which should be your first stop!), followed by the vast shelves of every novel you’ll ever want to read.

Jardin du Palais Royal

Found in the political and historical landmark of the Palais Royal, one could argue that its gardens are where the true charm of this must-visit location lies. A simple stroll around the grounds is absolutely blissful, while the charming boutiques and eateries at the Palais make it a perfect lunchtime destination.

Musée des Arts Forains

An enchanting world for every child at heart, the private (be sure to book ahead!) Musée des Arts Forains or Museum of Fairground Arts invites you into the decadent decor of carnival arts, spanning from the mid 19th century into the 20th century. With its delightful assortment of carousel animals, gypsy fortune tellers, automatons and fairground organs, this hidden treasure seeks to transport its visitors to another world and succeeds. And each year for 10 days they open to the public for the Festival du Merveilleux.

Fuente Médici

Built in 1630 for Queen Marie De Médici, this stunning and shaded oasis is relatively unknown, even to the locals. There’s an air of mystery, a dreaminess about the fountain, which depicts a mythological scene between Cyclops Polyphemus and lovers Galatea and Acis. Lined by towering plane trees, it’s a magical place to take refuge from the summer sun, pull out a good book and soak up the surrounding history.

The Charm of Chambray

Indulge in the cool and crisp tones of our latest collection with our must-have Embroidered Chambray Shirt. An elegant twist on the classic, this très chic shirt showcases a beautiful weave detail with lace insert embroidery. C’est parfait for the weekend when paired with our Bengajean blanc and Verona Weave Plimsol.
