Monet was a spectacular fan of colour — particularly when it came to his gardens. His most famous of paintings is perhaps his water lily series, of which there are 250. What was lesser known is that Monet was an avid gardener and planted his flower beds with meticulous care, the scene of which was the format of his painting The Artist’s Garden at Giverny.
Monet’s home in Giverny is where he spent the last 30 years of his life, with people now frequent visitors of his gardens and the northern French village where he lived.
