Bon Anniversaire Bengajean®!
I can’t believe that 10 years have already passed since the inception of our first Bengajean®.
What an incredible decade it has been!
From the likes of Juliette Binoche to Iris Apfel, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing women from around the world fall in love with our signature jean.
Looking back, I remember in 2012 my partner Danny and I felt thrilled to be launching a jean that would not only look fabulous, but also feel great to wear— and I’m proud to say that over the past 10 years, we have been able to deliver that to our community.
Even Iris Apfel has been quoted calling it “the most comfortable jean” she’s ever worn, (and we figure she says it like it is!), while each week our team receives feedback on how much our customers love their new denim.
So, without further ado, this L’Édition is all about the Bengajean®.

BLUE JEANS FOREVER
The origins of denim can be traced back to the provincial town of Nîmes (bleu de Nîmes), and was traditionally used to make practical workwear for men. Denim has since become a pinnacle of the modern woman’s wardrobe, both worn and loved by fashion icons worldwide.
And that’s where the Bengajean® story begins. Our founders long held a dream of a pant that was as chic as classic denim but this time with unparalleled comfort. Et voila! Our iconic Bengajean® was born.
NOT JUST FOR MEN
Psst….! Word on the street has it that Iris Apfel told our Creative Director, Donna Guest that she was one of the first women in New York City to wear jeans. At the time, women’s jeans were not yet created, so she would strut the streets of the big smoke wearing her husband’s Levi’s…Magnifique!
Today, Iris is still a big fan of denim including our Bengajean®, and it’s not hard to see why.
A HISTORY OF DENIM LOVE
2012
The Bengajean® is born! After years of dreaming up a jean that would strike the perfect balance of comfort and chic style, we made and sold our first pair of what is known today as the Bengajean®.
2014
Bengajean® goes global. We fly a pair to Paris so that Academy Award winning actress, Juliet Binoche can model a pair of our favori pants!
2015 -2017
Si Romantique… Style icons across the globe fall in love with our signature Bengajean®, including the likes of Iris Apfel, Caroline De Maigret, Estelle Lef’ebure and stylist Penny McCarthy, who proclaims the Bengajean as her favourite travel jeans!
2018 - Did you know?
Our superior denim is sourced in Turkey from the finest denim suppliers. Using our softest-ever cotton blend, we design with the exquisite detail that only an original Bengajean® can have.
2022
In February 2022 our ‘Bengajean: Ma Vrai Forme’ (My True Fit) fashion film is released in cinemas. Part 2, ‘Bengajean: Une Histoire D’amour’ can be seen in cinemas from December 2022.
DENIM IS A GIRLS BEST FRIEND
The always daring, ever-so-sensuous Marilyn Monroe popularised women’s jeans when she wore a figure hugging pair of Levi’s in her 1961 film The Misfits. Always ahead of the trend, Marilyn forever changed the public perception of women’s jeans.
